Lenore Henault Bernashe sent a birth announcement -- Kaitlin Marie was born on August 31, 1998. She weighed in at 9lbs. 2oz. And was 20.25 inches long. Congrats Lenore and David!
Andreana Houlis Clifford wrote in August of 1998 that she and Jim moved to Marblehead MA in 1996. She teaches a kindergarten/first grade multiage class in Salem, and she and Jim were expecting their first little Clifford in Jan…Andi, please write and tell us how it is going when you get a chance! Two mini hotdog dogs and a great house near the beach complete the family picture.
Deborah Enea '91 wrote in the guest book on 25 Aug 1998: "I am living in downtown Atlanta and I am working as a credit analyst for a finance company. In my spare time, I am the Atlanta Alum Club of Pi Phi Young Alum Chair, program chair for the Italian Club of Atlanta, and active in the Young Careers of the High Museum of Art club. I have also joined a book club, and I can definitely recommend 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I now have dark blond, long curly hair -- if you can imagine! If anyone wants to visit Atlanta, you're more than welcome to stay at my place -- (404) 351-7146!
Elissa Haney has a new job; she's the Managing Editor at Information Please, in Boston. They publish the TIME Almanac and sports and entertainment almanacs in print form and manage a huge reference site on the web. She was told that life would be a breeze after they put the almanac out in November, but she's at least as busy now, doing stuff for the site (writing articles, doing research, making info updates, keeping track of current events...). You can check it out at http://www.infoplease.com. It's actually generating a lot of traffic. She likes her job a lot, even though it's been demanding.
Tish King has been wrestling with a well-known balancing act: working and being a mom. Sophia Grace is now 9 months old. Tish has been back to work for about 4 months, working at the same organization but in a new position. She's the Deputy Staff Director for the Fulbright Scholarship Board (a Presidentially-appointed Board overseeing the Fulbright Educational Exchange Program). Thankfully, she's been able to reduce her schedule at work to four days a week. The extra day with Sophie helps keep her grounded and reminds her not to take things too seriously. Also, thankfully, they've found a very nurturing day care center. She and her husband continue to struggle to find time to socialize and to have time alone together. Her New Year's resolution is to get out with Bill AT LEAST one weekend night a month - without babies. It is surprisingly difficult. They did enjoy a recent visit with Paula and Paul and Ethan (also age 9 months) Dillon along with Peg and John and Rebecca Odell. It was a lot of fun and a good bit of chaos with all the kids. Otherwise she's trying to convince others to make the trek down this Spring. It is frightening how quickly time passes in between gatherings.
Lindsay Youker Levy '87 wrote in the guest book on 25 Aug 1998: "Time for an update as my email address has changed. Thanks to everyone who continues to update their info with me. With all of us moving so often, it is hard to keep current! My daughter, Kendra, turned 1 in July and continues to keep us busy. I'm home with her, which I feel really lucky to be able to do. I was wondering if anyone is involved in their alumnae club? I'm very involved in mine, and this year I'm the editor of the newsletter. It is a lot of fun and I've met many great Pi Phis from all over the country. Everyone I talk to has such different college experiences. It's fun to compare notes."
Tammy Tonucci McConnell writes that married life is agreeing with her. She and Mike honeymooned in northern Italy for 2 weeks, which was wonderful, though it seems like ages ago. They bought and moved into a house in Randolph, NJ in December; needless to say there are still lots of boxes to be tackled. Work is still the same... sales for a wire & cable manufacturer. Kristen Max is working for Ernst & Young in a communications position; she loves her new car - a VW Cabriolet - and can be found hanging out in Hoboken regularly. Kristine Olsevskis is still over in Latvia...she is a financial officer for Air Baltic. Regina Regazzi is out in San Francisco with Bank of America; she went on a trip to Europe this past year that sounded great. Kelli Liccini is working for Andersen Consulting and doing a lot of traveling, though she is based out of the Boston area. Melanie Vigil Sinche and her husband Bryan moved to Chapel Hill. Beth Mazzei is in the printing business in Philadelphia; she still is as crazy and fun as ever.
Christine Lasher Murphy '89 wrote in July 1998 that she is still living in Herndon, VA, and working with Hewlett-Packard Company in Rockville, MD. Most recently, she has made the switch from Sales to Contracts. Her new position as a Contracts Consultant will allow her to relocate anywhere within the US and work from home. In fact, they are hoping to relocate back to the Rochester, New York area and are actively pursuing job opportunities for her husband there. She is the mother of two beautiful children. Her son, Aidan, is 3 years old and getting ready for preschool; and her daughter, Mackenzie, is 16 months. They are so different from one another. Aidan is a Type "A" personality and Mackenzie is very easy going. Both are wonderful...She wouldn't change a thing!! She recently heard from Trish (McCarthy) Robitaille '89 who had a baby girl on July 3, 1998. Her name is Emma Davis Robitaille. It sounds as if all are happy and healthy.
Jill Norris is an associate professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She works in epidemiology and preventive medicine. She does research in childhood-onset and adult-onset diabetes teaches research methods. She got married November 1997 to Michael Holers, a rheumatologist and researcher at the Univ. of Colorado School of Medicine (and a wonderful guy). Eileen Chi Stramagila and her husband were there with their newly adopted daughter, Jessica. Jennifer Paul Herkel and her husband were also there. Jennifer was pregnant at the time with her second son, Mason, who was born last Spring and joins big brother Avery. Everyone is doing well! Their big news is that they are expecting their first child in March! They are also looking forward to their sabbaticals which start next September. They hope to go overseas for a year.
My husband, Reggie Boivin, and I are expecting our first baby in July, so we're pretty excited about that. In addition to all the usual "baby" preparations, we are also in the process of installing hardwood floors throughout our new house, so things are truly all over the place.
Christina Paterniti-Boivin is still doing the public relations thing at Anne Klein & Associates. She was recently promoted to senior account manager, so that means she has even more work than before, but she really likes it. As for Reggie, he passed his final actuarial fellowship exam in January and will be inducted as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in March. They're psyched because they get a trip to Dallas for the induction ceremony. She saw Ani Anandarajah this summer. She is working as an account manager in the loss control department for Royal & Sunalliance. She and her husband moved into New York City last winter. She also sees Melissa Andreanna O'Donnell at Pi Phi Southern New Jersey Alumni Club meetings. Melissa has an adorable baby girl and is working on her Ph.D. (Christina thinks it's in education or something to do with education, but sorry if she's got it wrong, Melissa!) at the University of Pennsylvania. She and her husband live in Oaklyn, NJ.
Jennifer Bastolla Robarge wrote in November 1998 that she and Philip had a wonderul wedding vow renewal ceremony. She is working on the equivalent of a Masters' degree in insurance, and Phil has landed a prestigious job at Vanilla Bean (a large bakery) as a baker, so they will finally get to see each other. She and Phil have a new home and three spoiled kitties -- they could use more pictures as their walls are still bare (remember they lost all they had in a fire), so if any of you have any pics around, send them to her. Their new address is 26 Champlain Ave (2nd floor), Mechanicsville, NY 12118.
Lisa Petronella Shock wrote in July 1998 that she, KJ Adelberger, and Leslie Crane Bruder recently got together for dinner in Winston-Salem, NC. It was great to catch up, and it was lots of fun!
Rochelle Ruffer '87 recently moved into a bigger house in a newly designated historic district (all older homes). It was difficult to move out of their first home, but they love the new house and certainly enjoy the extra space. Otherwise, life is good with Nathaniel (3 1/2) and Jonathan (21 months). YSU is going to move to semesters (From quarters) Fall of 2000, so both she and Tom (her husband) have gotten involved in all the time consuming committees involving curriculum revision. Other than that, they still enjoy teaching and attempt to find time to do research.
Melissa Wood-Saltzman has six cats, occasionally seven, so they put an addition on the house last fall, now they are debating the merits of direct tv. Being in very rural South Carolina means a lack of luxuries like cable, or a paved road. She is still working for the district attorney here (lots of job security - always have crime) and working on getting her MBA at night (yuck), it appears she should have majored in accounting instead of German. She, Kristen Max, and Deb Enea were all bridesmaids in Tammy Tonucci McConnell's wedding this summer, which was beautiful. It had been some time since she'd seen any fellow Pi Phis. She just can't understand why no one wants to come to Rock Hill, South Carolina... Kristine Olsevskis is (or was last time she heard from her) CFO of AirBaltic, the Latvian Airline.
June Stanton wrote in July 1998 that she ran into Ani Anandarajah recently. Geri Rosenthal is married and has a baby and lives in NJ. Sabrina Isaacs just bought a new home in Rockland County. She was also named partner at her law firm. Gail Peck is still working at HBO doing marketing. Lisa Thompson recently moved up to Larchmont and had a baby. Nancy Wallace is engaged and may have moved out to California.
We are doing well here. Abigail Camille (we call her Camille.) was born on September 26th. She is doing very well and can be seen at http://www.butera.org. Rob has accepted a faculty position at Georgia Tech, and we will be moving to Atlanta sometime in May. I continue to work from home, but have dropped to half-time for now.
Lindsay Youker Levy, the keeper of the Zetabase, can be reached at lylevy@sysnet.net or at 6809 North 19th Road, Arlington, VA 22205-1809. It would be very helpful if you could update her when you move, etc. Thanks so much for all of your effort, Lindsay!
For those of you with web access, please be sure to drop by the NYZeta web site at http://www.butera.org/PiPhi/ and sign the guestbook. This is a new location, since we are moving. Once we do move, I will put my new address on the web page. I will be sure to include your "gossip" in the next NYZeta NYwZ! If you have any pictures or information you would like me to add to the site, just let me know!
TTFN,
