Spare the Rock LIVE
24 March 2007
Jalopy - Brooklyn, NY
I will leave the real recap to the experts...
The girls and I were a little late getting into Penn Station, but found our way to Brooklyn quickly enough. Audra's directions were perfect. The girls enjoyed walking along the street and playing in what little snow was left. Jalpoy was crowded with kdis and adults there for the Toxic Muffin and Tiny Masters of Today sets. So crowded that we really didn't get to hear or see them perform. Audra's husband let us put our backpacks and bags in their house. Camille and Chloe then hung out with the various kids. Chloe soon had a new best friend, the daughter of one of Bill's friends. Unfortunately, Camille and Ella didn't seem to hit it off as well as Camille had hoped they would.
People started to arrive for the Spare the Rock show. Look, there's Yosi coming up the street. And hey, ScribbleJim just pulled up with his family. Over there is Princess Katie in street clothes. Ooh, Lunch Money just got here. And the bloggers, too. The girls and I enjoyed the music. Chloe kept getting in the way. Camille loved the mediterranean food, especailly the grape leaves. Chloe had an m&ms craving, so I went to the deli next door. The girls got to be on stage during some of the songs. They sang Jingle Bells (Ella reports that it is a Thanksgiving song, not a Christmas one) and then had fun with "D is for Drums". The musicians sang some of our favorites and some new songs we hadn't heard before.
By the end of the evening, Chloe was asleep - she missed Yosi and ScribbleJim - and Camille was almost asleep. As soon as the show was over, I left with them to take them to Audra's friends house for the night. I felt bad runnig out without saying goodbye to so many people, but the girls needed to sleep.
It is going to be hard for Bill to top that one! Thanks to everyone, especially Bill and Audra, for such a great evening!
